WADHURST PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS - THURSDAY 5 MAY
CANDIDATES' STATEMENTS

BOB STANDLEY

Standley The Parish Council has always been a varied group of individuals working for the good of the village. With 5 members standing down there will be a number of new members. I welcome new councillors coming on to the Council but disagree with one of the current councillors trying to get a group of 15 to take over the Council.

I have played an active part in the Council and have been a member of Recreation ( Chairman for a 3 year period), Planning and Finance committees and was Vice Chairman of the Council for 3 years. I would hope, with your support, to carry on that work.

Achievements

  • Proposed that the Parish Council support the new library project
  • Campaigned against housing developments in Townsland Road and Queen’s cottages
  • Assisted the British Legion in ensuring the Remembrance Parade could go ahead
  • Worked with the Local Action Team to minimize crime and fear of crime

I will continue to work to

  • Keep the rural feel of the village
  • Reduce traffic speeds
  • Promote affordable housing for local need
  • Ensure value for money for the services the Parish offers
  • Provide more car parking in the village to help the shops thrive
