Wadhurst Neighbourhood Panel Meeting
During the meeting held on 6 Aug 2009 a number of decisions were made
which are summarised below :
Chair elected as Paul Warley
Deputy Chair elected as Melissa Gates
Meetings to take place quarterly with representatives from agreed organisations
within Wadhurst as well as representatives from Sussex Police, Uplands
Community College, East Sussex County Council and Wealden District Council.

Next Panel Meeting to be held 24/09/2009
WADHURST WARD –
PRIORITY 1: SPEEDING / ANTI SOCIAL DRIVNIG
What you said : Speeding problem in Frant Road / roads in and out of Wadhurst
area.
What we did : Pcso Bennett to conduct SPEEDWATCH in areas that are assessed
as viable. To continue to promote COMMUNITY SPEEDWATCH.
Sussex Police Road Policing Unit to be contacted regards conducting drink
drive checks in Wadhurst and the main roads out of Wadhurst. To enquire
with local police units regards conducting checks late at night / early
hours. To make enquiries into organising an event, directed at Road Safety
within Wadhurst, with possible incentives to attendees (free vehicle checks
?) To look at other agencies who could be involved (ESFR, Youth Development
Service)
Op Crackdown will be promoted so that it can be used to report vehicles.

Pcso Bennett to continue to distribute Op Crackdown leaflets, to local
outlets to raise awareness..
What we did : Report back with regular updates to panel members.
PRIORITY 2 : PARKING
What you said : Parking problem in the HIGH STREET ... concentrating in
the following areas :
Bus stops and bottlenecks in the HIGH STREET, entrance to WASHWELL LANE
What we did : Parking issues to be addressed by high visibility foot patrol
and enforcement of Fixed Penalty Notices.
What happened : Fixed Penalty Notices have been issued at all the above
locations.
PRIORITY 3 : ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
What you said : Anti social behaviour problem in WASHWELL LANE RECREATION
GROUND, SPARROWS GREEN RECRATION GROUND and SOUTHVIEW ROAD AREA. Some issues
occurring during the day and during school time. Complaints to be reported
to Uplands Community College at the time of the incident, in order for
the issue to be dealt with at the time, rather than discussed later. Evening
/ late night anti social behaviour at SPARROWS GREEN RECREATION GROUND.
What we did : Regular late afternoon / evening patrols, directed in the
problem areas. Working with Pcso Bunch, Safer Schools Pcso to identify
issues / any possible offenders. Street Meetings have been held at WASHWELL
LANE, SPARROWS GREEN RECRATION GROUND, SOUTHVIEW ROAD to give local residents
an opportunity to discuss any concerns. The non emergency phone number
to be promoted locally. Pcso Bennett to place awareness posters in local
outlets / notice boards. Late night anti social behaviour to be dealt with
by way of high visibility patrol / interaction with youths. Test purchasing
to continue in Wadhurst as per other parts of Wealden, to deter underage
alcohol purchase.
What happened :Report back with regular updates to the panel members.
Next formal meeting to be held at Sparrows Green Pavilion 7:30pm November
2009.
